OVERVIEW

With a great location by Smithfield Market in the City of London, the Fox and Anchor is very much a traditional historic pub downstairs, but the six swish boutique bedrooms and suite upstairs are colourful and contemporary. OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Being just five minutes from Barbican and Farringdon tube stations, much of London is just a short underground journey away from the Fox and Anchor. Although in the heart of the city, it is tucked down a side street and away from the hustle and bustle. There are boutique coffee shops and restaurants aplenty nearby, as well as the Museum of London and St Paul's Cathedral.

By car: the hotel is 4 hours from Manchester and under 3 hours from Bristol.

By train: Farringdon station is 3 minutes' walk away. Liverpool Street station is a 15-minute taxi ride. Book trains to London.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

This Victorian building retains lots of characterful detailing, such as Art Nouveau tiling on the façade. The bar is something out of a Dickens novel, with low beams, wooden panelling, leather-clad benches, romantic little alcoves, antique furniture, and candlelight. The bedrooms are very different, being much on trend, with colourful, bright furnishings, and funky touches like bold wallpapers, contemporary artworks and antique telephones.

THE FACILITIES

The friendly staff and buzzing atmosphere - local market traders and stockbrokers frequent the pub and add diversity to an international crowd that visit - make a stay here a real pleasure. All facilities are attractive and well maintained, letting you sit back, relax and enjoy the ambience.
