In plum position opposite the northern end of the Ponte Vecchio, and less than five minute's walk from the Uffizi Gallery and Piazza della Signoria, it would be hard to be more in the heart of the city. All the major landmarks are within 15 minutes while the River Arno is across the road. It's busy and bustling but exciting too and rooms are sound-proofed. Ponte Vecchio with its jewellery shops is across the road; the treasures of the Uffizi are less than five minutes in one direction and the high fashion shops of Via Tornabuoni are the same distance in the other direction.

By plane: there are direct flights to Florence Airport from London (2 hours 5 minutes), Manchester (4 hours 25 minutes), Edinburgh (4 hours 55 minutes). The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport. Book flights to Florence.

Channelling a 1950s fun and glamorous lifestyle, the hotel's interiors are filled with white-on-white colours, blonde-wood floors, languorous white sofas piled with white cushions and the occasional shots of peppermint or Pucci pink. It's chic and minimalist with a scattering of black-and-white photographs and coffee tables with a clock face to amuse and entertain.

There's an airy, all-white lounge with sofas decadently heaped with cushions as well as a separate quiet 'relaxation' space with day beds. For further relaxation, the vaulted cellar contains a small, very quiet spa while the rooftop bar is one of the city's coolest drinking spots. Staff are polished and efficient.
