Set in a building that was once a 15th-century convent (and a couple of adjoining 18th-century buildings), the hotel hugs a central courtyard garden that provides an oasis to relax in summer. Original pillars, vaulted ceilings and frescos are the backdrop for contemporary styling and elaborate floral displays.

You never have to look far to find a member of staff to assist you and are always greeted at the door by a dedicated doorman. The subterranean spa in what was once a wine cellar is an atmospheric place to relax and includes a 14-metre lap pool and fitness centre with equipment that has video training sessions.
