There are lots of design flourishes that make you realise you are in Rome. The carving on the reception desk is an exact replica of one that's found on the Ara Pacis Augustae (the peace altar). Elsewhere there are black and white marble floors and gilt wood-panelled carved ceilings.

Service is exceptional from long-serving staff who treat you in the same way they treat the A-list celebrities that stay here (signed black and white portraits of some of the biggest names in the cinema line the stairs to the restaurant). A small spa offers Sonya Dakar facials and there's a fitness centre.
