Glen-Yr-Afon House is a just five-minute stroll from the centre of Usk and its shops, pubs and cafés, set back from the town's main through road and surrounded by three acres of grounds including sweeping lawns and cherry trees. Glen-Yr-Afon started life as a family home in 1868 and has been well-established as a hotel since 1974. Interiors are elegant and traditional but with a modern edge, with warm wood panelling, gold lanterns, pictures, quality wood furniture and antiques, and lovely stained glass windows. The atmosphere is very calm and friendly.
The hotel has welcoming, efficient staff, a large restaurant, bar, guest lounge, library and a big ballroom. Two rooms are licensed for weddings. Outside there are lawns and dining areas where lunch and tea can be enjoyed. There is an accessible room on the first floor, with a wet room, accessed by a ramp and the guest lift, and plenty of parking.
