The world’s best B&B is located in the seaside town of Torquay, Devon, according to this year’s Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The 25, a boutique, adults-only B&B, won the accolade for the second year in a row, beating out contenders from Italy, Morocco and the US, among others.

Comments from satisfied guests included: “Don’t think twice – book a stay.”

“It’s an incredible feeling to be named the best B&B in the world for the second year running. If anything, the second time feels even more special because we know last year’s award raised customer expectations and so we’ve had to work even harder to deliver a great experience for every single one of our guests,” said Andy Banner-Price, co-owner of The 25.

“We didn’t rest on our laurels, we’ve tried to look at every little thing we can do to improve, and it feels like that effort has really paid off with this news today.”

The comprehensive annual awards cover everything from restaurants and hotels to travel experiences and beaches.

Other notable UK wins included Lawton & Lauriston Court Hotel in Llandudno, Wales, which was named the top hotel in the UK, number three in Europe and the 13th best hotel in the world.

Ascot House Hotel in Torquay won the award for best Small Hotel in the UK; Doric Hotel in Blackpool garnered the Best Family Hotel in the UK award; Hotel Ceilidh-Donia in Edinburgh emerged as the UK’s top Bargain Hotel; and London’s Hotel 41 won best-rated Luxury Hotel in the UK.

Tripadvisor’s 2020 Travellers’ Choice awards are calculated based on reviews and opinions collected in 2019 from travellers and diners around the world.

The awards take into account the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings specific to each award category.

“This has been an incredibly tough year for the UK’s hospitality industry, but with doors opening again to hotels and restaurants across the country, now is the right time to celebrate those businesses that have delivered consistently outstanding service and quality over the last year,” said James Kay, a spokesperson for Tripadvisor.

“With so many winning properties coming from the UK this year, it is testament to the high standards of hospitality we enjoy domestically, and that should give Brits the confidence to venture out and support the industry’s vital recovery.”
