Out of Africa

Explorer Levison Wood will be exhibiting photos he took while walking the length of the Nile. His images will be shown alongside work by wildlife sculptor Rosamond Lloyd in the “Visions of Africa” exhibition which runs from 6-13 December at La Galleria, London. All works are for sale, with 20 per cent of profits going to the conservation charity TuskTrust. tusk.org

Ride the rails

The UK’s oldest roller coaster has reopened, marking the completion of Margate’s Dreamland amusement park, one of the UK’s biggest restoration projects. The 1920s Grade II-listed Scenic Railway has been carefully restored after it was destroyed by fire. dreamland.co.uk

Economy passengers on long-haul British Airways flights can now buy a “Taste of the Far East” pre-paid menu. Featuring vegetarian sushi, prawn crackers, chicken pay ca paw, vegetables and green tea tiramisu, it joins other pre-paid options such as “Taste of Britain” and “Healthy Choice”, all of which can be added to a booking from £15. ba.com

Change of plan

Flybe now allows passengers with “Get More” tickets to change their flights free of charge on the original day of departure. Travellers can either turn up to the airport early and book on to an earlier flight, or call the Flybe Contact Centre at least one hour before the original departure time to travel later. Art of Paris

Paris’s Rodin Museum is to reopen on 12 November after a three-year restoration. The 18 rooms of exhibition space will feature works by the sculptor, who once lived in the building, that have never been exhibited before. One room is back to how it looked in Rodin’s time. musee-rodin.fr

Thomas Cook is to launch a new boutique-style hotel concept called Casa Cook, aimed at younger travellers. The first in the collection, Casa Cook Rhodes, in the hills of Kolymbia, is due to open in May 2016 and there are plans for up to three further Casa Cook hotels by summer 2017.
