Katy Holland: Help your little darlings destress
Are we there yet? Yoga retreats for kids
Did you see that story in the news recently about kids suffering from stress at Christmas? It seems the exhausting business of present-opening can really take its toll. What better time to plan a holiday to help your little darlings destress?
Nadia Davis is thinking along the right lines: she asked me if I knew of a child-friendly yoga retreat to take her three kids to (and no, she wasn't joking). Sadly, the thought of little ones running amok among the yoga mats puts many operators off, but just for you, Nadia, I've tracked down a few who are brave enough to give it a go.
Responsible Travel (01273 600030; www.responsibletravel. com) is always up for trying something different, and next July it is running a Yoga Family Week in its delectable renovated farmhouse in Le Marche, Italy. This holiday will cater for all tastes; there are plenty of opportunities to lounge by the pool and eat pizza for those who don't want to stretch themselves too much. Kids and adults are taught separately, the emphasis is on fun, albeit in a laid-back environment.
Also leading the way for kids' karmas is Canvas Holidays (0845 268 0827; www.canvasholidays.co.uk), the first campsite operator to offer children yoga classes. Next year, at French sites in Brittany, Argelès and the Vendée, it will be offering courses for little yogis and their exhausted parents. These classes are part of its new FamilyExtra programme, which aims to get everyone destressing. And with holiday prices starting at a £420 for a family of four, you'll be stretching your pound, too.
