National Parks Week 2015 starts on 27 July, celebrating Britain's open spaces. The theme this year is Landscapes of Plenty, and the week will feature events including farmers' markets and food festivals at parks such as the Brecon Beacons, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the New Forest, and the Yorkshire Dales. nationalparks.gov.uk

Film in flight

British Airways has launched a new British Film Institute channel on its in-flight entertainment system, showing previously unseen films about life in the UK from the BFI'S new project, Britain on Film. Some of the pictures date back more than a century. bit.ly/BritainOnFilm

Tea in china

The World of Wedgwood visitor attraction opens outside Stoke-on-Trent on 17 July, offering tours of the factory where the celebrated china and porcelain is made, design and decorating studios, a museum, a tea room, landscaped gardens and themed play areas for children. Hokkaido lake, Japan

Remote Japan

Walk Japan is running a new trip to Eastern Hokkaido this September – a remote and little-visited part of the country. The trip will take in Pacific beaches, nature reserves, volcanic landscapes and the peaks of the Shiretoko Peninsula, before ending at the Sea of Okhotsk coast. Go Dutch

The east London-based Hoxton hotel group has launched its first foreign outpost. The Hoxton Amsterdam has 111 rooms and suites, in a building which was once home to the mayor of the Dutch city. Budding chefs

A new cookery school has opened in Kent, on the farm where ITV series The Darling Buds of May was set. Darling Buds Cookery Retreats is offering weekend courses for novice chefs, as well as bake-off competitions for groups of friends. Photo op

Vienna waits

easyJet is opening three new routes to the Austrian capital, Vienna, this winter. All services are twice weekly, with the first departure from Luton on 23 October, from Manchester on 5 November and Bristol on 6 November.
