Would you like ice with that? You probably would, since the drinks in business class on Icelandair are served with 1,000-year-old glacial ice.

Destination of the week: America in comfort

Would you like ice with that? You probably would, since the drinks in business class on Icelandair are served with 1,000-year-old glacial ice. And for the next seven weeks, the airline (020-7874 1000, www.icelandair.co.uk) is selling its best ever business-class deal from London and Glasgow to US destinations.

For just £950 return, you fly to Reykjavik and connect to Boston or Baltimore (which also serves Washington DC). There is no minimum stay; date changes are permitted free of charge; and the ticket is fully refundable should your plans change. Better still, you can stop over in Iceland, for example to visit the Blue Lagoon.

You must book your ticket by phone (not online) at least four days in advance and quote "Business Travel Show offer" to qualify.

The airline's other American destinations are available at higher fares: Minneapolis/St Paul looks a bargain at £1,100, compared with the usual Northwest Airlines business fare from Gatwick of close to £4,000. Orlando is also available at £1,400.

Warning of the week: how drink-driving could keep you out of Canada

George Best, and anyone else convicted of drunk driving, will face problems getting into Canada. Visit Canada warns: "If you have been caught driving under the influence of alcohol by police in the UK within the last 10 years, and were prosecuted for this or other offences, you may find that you are not admissible to Canada without first completing and submitting a 'Minister's Permit' to show that you have been 'deemed rehabilitated'. The fee for this application is C$200 [£81]". You can find out more at www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications

Bargain of the week: health kits online

The travel medicine organisation MASTA has joined the trend for cutting prices for internet sales. Order by the end of this month at www.masta.org, and you save £4 on a sterile medical equipment travel pack normally costing £17.99. The kit includes syringes, skin closure strips and dental needles.
