The Houses of Parliament throw open the doors in London on Monday. For the 10th consecutive year, Blue Badge-guided tours of the parliamentary buildings are being offered; until 3 October (ticketmaster.co.uk/housesofparliament). From Thursday to Sunday, you can catch Gok Wan at Gatwick Airport. The celebrity stylist will be hosting a fashion show at the North Terminal and offering style tips to holidaymakers (explore. gatwickairport.com). You don't have to take to the skies to see the inside of a jet though. On Friday, the Airplane Suite opens in Teuge in the Netherlands; sleeping just two, the luxuriously converted Soviet Ilyushin 18 aircraft features a sauna, whirlpool bath, Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs (hotelsuites.nl).

Poet Roger McGough will be hosting a writers' workshop in Deia, Mallorca from 7-11 September. The hilltop village is known for its literary residents (www.deiaretreats.com).
