Rock'n'roll back to the '60s on Carnaby Street in London. This weekend the seminal shopping street is hosting a Swinging Carnaby event, complete with live music, exhibitions, dancers, themed events and free 1960s make-overs (carnaby.co.uk).

With prime views of the Old City Walls of Jerusalem, the Mamilla Hotel, which opens on Sunday, brings contemporary glamour to this historic city (mamillahotel.com). From ancient history to natural history – Charlie's Wilderness Camp is a new mobile safari camp of four tents opening in Tanzania on Monday (nomad- tanzania.com). Renowned primatologist Jane Goodall will be giving a special lecture at London Zoo on 25 June. Hosted by John Simpson, she will be talking about her extensive studies of chimpanzees (janegoodall.org.uk).
