The Masked Singer UK series 2 trailer

The Masked Singer viewers think they know who’s behind the Blob’s costume.

ITV’s wackiest reality TV series returned on Saturday (16 January), with Grandfather Clock, Harlequin, Bush Baby, Viking and Blob performing for a second week.

The last act to perform, Blob treated the audience to a rendition of “Word Up” by Cameo and dropped some clues about his identity along the way.

During his VT, Blob said that he was “a bit of an academic” and that he had played with a lot of his musical heroes to large audiences. He also said that he had worked with George Michael’s producer.

The judges speculated that he could be a comedian who had played at benefit concerts alongside famous singers.

However, viewers at home were near unanimous in their guessing as they speculated that Lenny Henry must be behind the costume based on his singing voice.

“Blob might as well sing ‘I’m Lenny Henry’,” one viewer joked

“If Blob isn't Lenny Henry I will eat my hat,” another commented.

“Davina and Jonathan are not saying it’s Lenny Henry on purpose when you know for sure they def know that it’s him, we all know they go way back those three,” one fan speculated.

Another commented: “Listening to the judges on the #MaskedSingerUK not saying Lenny Henry is truly painful.”

As of last Saturday, Henry was the bookies’ favourite to be unmasked as Blob, with Ladbrokes having him at odds of 5/6. He is followed by Romesh Ranganathan (4/1) and Richard Osman (8/1).

You can find the full list of odds here.

Elsewhere in the episode, fans shared their thoughts on who is behind Bush Baby’s costume.

The Masked Singer returns next Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
