Donations to The Independent's appeal for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) will make “a huge difference to some people who really deserve it”, actor Jason Isaacs said today.

The star used a special video message, one of 12 Christmas countdown endorsements, to tell readers how their money could help fund creative workshops that serve as a distraction for brave young patients battling serious illness.

Isaacs, 52, who played Draco Malfoy’s father Lucius in the Harry Potter films, said: “Great Ormond Street's Go Create programme aims to create relaxing and child-friendly surroundings throughout the hospital.

“Your donation to the Give to GOSH appeal could support Go Create to provide a range of workshops for our patients, including art music and dance. These workshops help patients to express themselves, interact with other children and take their minds off tests and treatments.

“Please give as generously as you can. It really makes a huge difference to some people who really deserve it.”

A string of other celebrities have already shown their support for Give to GOSH in exclusive video messages.

Comic John Bishop began the series on Monday with an appeal to help “one extraordinary hospital”.

David Beckham, Johnny Depp and Elton John have also backed the appeal.
