Vaishaly Cleansing Balm, £69 for 150ml

A luxurious balm with sweet almond and olive oil that gently removes make-up without stripping away moisture. Arnica and calendula make it good for sensitive skins too.

Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask, £93 for 60ml

Apply a thin layer and leave on for 10 minutes, before gently wiping away. Wait a further 10 minutes before applying make-up and your skin will look luminous and fresh.

Perricone MD Chia Serum, £59.50 for 30ml

This serum combines Omega 3-rich chia oil and fat-soluble vitamins. Use after cleansing but before moisturising to guard against dry, flaky patches of winter skin.

Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF50, £37.60 for 50ml

A smart SPF that can be used on its own or mixed with your moisturiser. Reapply every few hours to guard against sun-induced lines and age spots.

Guerlain Orchidée Impériale The Fluid, £195 for 30ml

The Fluid is a lighter version of Guerlain’s moisturiser. Far from cheap, this is a luxury option if you are concerned about fine lines and dull skin.

Chanel Le Weekend de Chanel Renew, £72 for 50ml

A resurfacing product meant for once-a-weekend use (although we won’t tell if you do it on a Wednesday). With fragrant rose water and a gentle glycolic acid.

Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum, £110 for 30ml

Facialist Su-Man launches her first skincare line this month, and this is one of the stand-out products. One drop leaves your skin feeling like velvet.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, £39.50 for 105g

Packed with British-grown natural oils, this luxurious cleanser can also be used as a treatment mask if left on for 10 minutes.

Darphin Hydraskin Light Gel Crème, £34 for 50ml

Darphin is unrivalled in the mid-price skincare market. This lightweight moisturiser contains kiwi and butterfly lavender to soothe and protect.

Natura Bisse Diamond White Brilliant Cream, £138 for 50ml

For fuss-free, glossy hair simply spritz a light halo of this pleasantly scented product all around your head, and your locks will glisten.

Show Pure Treatment Oil, £50 for 60ml

A real multifaceted product: use as a hair treatment on dry hair for 10 minutes once a week, apply to damp hair before blow-drying, or use to smooth frizz after styling.

Philip Kingsley One More Day, £13.50 for 200ml

Thick hair often looks better a day after washing. This brilliant dry shampoo will refresh between washes and makes styling much easier too.

Wella SP Luxe Oil, £13.95 for 75ml

If you dislike hairspray or mousse, but want to keep your hair looking smooth and shiny, this is great, and the small can is good for holidays. A little goes a long way, so use sparingly.

Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo, £20.50 for 250ml

This gentle and nourishing range is packed with coconut oil, while quinoa proteins help to counteract the effects of colouring and styling.

Argan + Deep Repair Conditioner, £5.99 for 300ml

Leave this on the ends of your hair once a week for an intensive treatment, or use sparingly after washing to make tresses feel soft again.

Kerastase Spray a Porter Tousled Effect Spray £23 for 150ml
