I Heart Peterborough, Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh

Five years ago Joel Horwood’s adolescent drama I Caught Crabs in Walberswick won a Fringe First and transferred to London’s Bush Theatre. Now the playwright, 31, has teamed up again with Ipswich’s Eastern Angles on another coming-of-age yarn.

Metamorphosis: Titian 2012, Royal Opera House, London

In an Olympic year full of artistic grand projects, The Royal Ballet ends its season with one of the grandest. Titian: Metamorphosis 2012 has seven choreographers, three composers, three designers, and the surprise is that this isn’t a case of too many cooks. It’s a coherent, stylish evening, with artists moving confidently into new areas.

Album: Elton John vs Pnau, Good Morning to the Night (Mercury)

Remix albums are usually tedious affairs simply involving the fitting of more contemporary rhythm undercarriages to tracks that don't need them.

Album: Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Hidden People (Navigator)

Husband-and-wife team Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman have many associations with the folk scene, notably with Lakeman's brother Seth and Roberts' fellow South Yorkshire siren Kate Rusby.

Les Troyens, Royal Opera House

With its tale of love, duty, destiny, and the rise and fall of empires, Berlioz’s ‘Les Troyens’ was well-selected as Covent Garden’s contribution to Olympic year.

Richmond Ballet, Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House, London

Richmond Ballet, the state ballet of Virginia, USA, made its international debut with easy grace. This is a very likeable company, with dancers who share a fluent classical style and warm stage presence. Individual dancers stand out, distinctive personalities with strong technique.

Album: 2:54, 2:54 (Polydor/Fiction)

You couldn't move for bands like 2:54 in the early 1990s.

Album: Soulsavers, The Light of the Dead See (V2/Cooperative)

The production team of Rich Machin and Ian Glover previously recorded with Mark Lanegan as primary vocalist (with cameos from the likes of Mike Patton and Gibby Haynes).

Beryl Renwick and Betty Smith beat Adam & Joe and Frank Skinner to win a Sony Radio Academy award

Who are radio's hottest new talents? Meet Beryl Renwick and Betty Smith (combined age: 176)

Forget talk shows – natter is where it's at. Adam Sherwin tunes in to the BBC Humberside double act that took the industry's top gong

Beryl Renwick and Betty Smith beat Adam & Joe and Frank Skinner to win a Sony Radio Academy award

Humberside's nattering pensioners put radio's young guns in the shade

Beryl and Betty do not deliver what one might consider to be stereotypical DJ one-liners. Nor are they hip young things waxing lyrical about the latest chart sensation. When these ladies get chatty on the mic, their cackling banter veers from memories of wartime rationing to lustful thoughts about Michael Bublé.

Album: Willie Nelson, Heroes (Sony Legacy)

For Heroes, Willie Nelson both delves into the past, with songs from country music's Forties prehistory, and the present day, with covers of material by Tom Waits, Pearl Jam and Coldplay.
