Want to know everything about the 2022 Oscars race? We’ve got you covered
Another year, another round of Oscar nominations.
The Oscars 2022 will be taking place next month, but before then, there was the small case of finding out the films that will be duking it out for the top awards, including Best Picture.
Following on from the impressive Bafta nominations, which were announced last week, all eyes were on the Academy to deliver the goods.
This year’s awards season has seen nominations for Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.
Other films in contention at the Academy Awards include Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car, Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast.

The Oscars 2022 will take place in Los Angeles on 27 March.
Flee is not only an incredible documentary (which is out this week) but it’s broken a record: it’s the first film ever to get Best Documentary, Best Animated Film and Best International Film nods in the same year!
Speaking of The Power of the Dog, director Jane Campion has become the first woman to be nominated for Best Director twice.
FUN FACT TIME
There are two married couples nominated in the acing categories this year: Penélope Cruz/Javier Bardem (for Parallel Mothers and Being the Ricardos) + Kirsten Dunst/Jesse Plemons (for the same film – The Power of the Dog).
Also, in just four years, Olivia Colman now has three Oscar nominations. Not bad going for a former star of Peep Show.
This does mean Kristen Stewart, who was expected to be snubbed, is now an Oscar nominee for Spencer!
Well, there we go. Lots to digest. Firstly, NO Lady Gaga. This makes it the only main awards body that didn’t nominate her. We bet she – and her fans – are gutted.
