Swedish pensioner, aged 104, offered Kindergarten place due to computer glitch

A Swedish woman aged 104 was sent an invitation to attend her local kindergarten due to a computer error.

Maja Bergström, from Hylte, has only spent only four years in education over the course of her childhood.

She never attended preschool as it did not exist in 1910s Sweden.

Mrs Bergström told the Hallands Nyheter newspaper: "It is fantastic. I am the first 104-year-old in Hylte who received an invitation to go to preschool."

The letter had been sent to her daughter Birgitta, 78, who they mistook for her mother not her daughter.

Birgitta explained that the letter had been addressed to the care-giver of Maja Bergström.

Stigert Pettersson, the local children and youth manager said: "We sent out invitations to all the guardians of the children born in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

"However, the selection of the computer was set so that those born in the 1900s also came up with."

"We must make contact with this person and explain the mistake. It's embarrassing and a bit charming."
