Brentford 0-2 Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou’s team move up to 14th in the table
Tottenham ended their winless streak in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Spurs, who came into the match on a seven-match winless run, were under pressure to perform and for large parts of the match were second best. Brentford were the greater attacking force and Tottenham’s dogged defence limited the space and chances of the hosts.
The opener came from a set piece. Heung-Min Son swung a corner into the box and Spurs went ahead as a deflection off the back of Vitaly Janelt sent the ball over the line.
With a lead to protect, Tottenham dug in and used the pace of Son and Richarlison to get them up the pitch and relieve pressure. In the closing minute Pape Matar Sarr decided the match with a goal of his own as Spurs doubled their lead.
Ange Postecoglou’s side jump up to 14th and can take heart from a pleasing performance.
