Alexis Sanchez scored on his return to the Emirates Stadium as Manchester United saw off Arsenal to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup and extend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's winning start.

The two most successful sides in the competition's history played out an entertaining Friday night game as United secured a 3-1 win an an eighth straight victory for interim manger Solskjaer.

Sanchez and Jesse Lingard had set the visitors on course for victory before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled a goal back for the Gunners, only for substitute Anthony Martial to wrap up a comfortable win with a late strike.

17 minutes: Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Sokratis is visibly frustrated here. He's signalling a twist of the knee or ankle.

It came after the defender went up for an aerial challenge with Jesse Lingard.

He's up on his feet and trying to walk this off but it's not looking good.

Play goes on and Sokratis is back in action...for about five seconds. The Greek international has immediately signalled to the bench that he can't carry on. Luke Shaw rather sportingly kicks the ball out.

Here's the change, then. A distraught Sokratis makes way for Mustafi.

Another injury issue for the Gunners to deal with.

There's Mustafi's first touch, and it's a positive one. The German slides into tackle Sanchez.

Moments later, Ashley Young plays a ball into the path of Lukaku, but the striker is just offside.

24 minutes: Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Arsenal's first effort. Lacazette plays in Iwobi on the left-side of the penalty area. The winger elects to shoot rather than square the ball for Aubameyang. An easy save for Romero.

A let off for Arsenal. Lingard swings in a great cross which just about evades Lukaku. For a moment that looked like a certain goal.

You get the feeling that the break in play for Sokratis' injury has helped United more than it has Arsenal here. The away side are trying to step things up.

Another decent move from Arsenal. Aaron Ramsey has been involved in most good things they have done so far.

Iwobi and Lacazette combine with the Welshman before Lacazette's chip towards Aubameyang is caught by Romero.

29 minutes: Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Arsenal have a corner after Alex Iwobi's pass deflected out off Young.

One from the training ground that doesn't work out. Kolasinac pops up on the edge of the box. The corner is taken low towards him but the referee blows up after spotting some blocking from the Arsenal players in the box.
