A heroic Crystal Palace performance downed Manchester City to claim the FA Cup and a first major trophy at Wembley Stadium.

Ebere Eze's first-half goal and Dean Henderson's penalty save proved vital moments for Oliver Glasner's side in a day of destiny for the Eagles.

Pep Guardiola will feel aggrieved after Henderson remained on the pitch, despite a VAR check, with the Eagles goalkeeper touching the ball outside the box and appearing to deny the Norwegian a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Daniel Munoz thought he had doubled Palace's lead in the second half, but Ismaila Sarr was offside after a VAR check.

And Guardiola could only throw on Phil Foden and a debut for Argentine youngster Claudio Echeverri, who was denied by Henderson late on.

Palace survived and held on for the greatest moment in their history.

Still City press, though some lovely footwork from Adam Wharton briefly gets them out of trouble. You do wonder how long Glasner’s side can sit deep and soak up pressure though.

PENALTY SAVED! Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

Erling Haaland has never scored in a final for City. When they got a penalty, it seemed that might change. Until Omar Marmoush took it. And he still hasn't scored in a final for City either.

IT’S SAVED!

Marmoush steps up and takes the slow run-up, firing it low to his left. Henderson dives across and saves low, and Haaland can’t direct the rebound to the Egyptian!

PENALTY TO CITY! It looks stonewall from here.

Silva drives into the box with a great run and a silky touch takes the ball away from Mitchell as he slides in, bringing the Portuguese midfielder down.

There’s a brief VAR check but it’s given!

Marmoush to take...

Risky from Richards under pressure in his own area but it pays off as the ball rolls to Henderson.

City in no rush to press Palace too high, though the Eagles have been exceptionally disciplined when not in possession so far.

Palace attempt the long throw but it’s cleared easily enough. You wonder whether that’ll be a useful weapon today.

The match has calmed down somewhat, with City settling back into possession, but the air of Palace danger still lingers in each City attack.

Some good defending from Palace, first from Guehi and then from Richards to deny a goalscoring opportunity and a promising Doku dribble.

Mateta doing more great work to hold up the ball and then win a throw midway into the City half.

Well then. As Haaland chased that ball, Henderson punched it away but he was definitely out of his box.

The question here is, was that a denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity?

Presumably not, as Haaland was running away from goal and there was a covering defender.

VAR waves it away then.

Palace continue to look dangerous on the counter, though it’s City who’ve had 83 per cent of possession so far.

Unlike a Guardiola side, they almost fashion a chance from a long ball to Haaland after Henderson misjudged the ball, but they can’t capitalise as the ‘keeper flicks it away.

But wait, there’ll be a VAR check here for handball from Henderson...

CLOSE! Almost a second!

City have had the possession since the goal but Palace break again, with Eze clipping a lovely ball to Munoz providing width right on the edge of the box.

It’s another great cross from the full-back, right into the path if Sarr, who rifles an effort too close to Ortega.
