Ten Hag "very respectful" of Bayern Munich ahead of Champions League clash

Manchester United slumped to a third consecutive defeat after a promising start to their Champions League opener against Bayern Munich.

Christian Eriksen should have opened the scoring inside the first five minutes only to be denied by a sharp save from Sven Ulreich. A howler from Andre Onana then gave the hosts the opening goal and they continued to flow on a strange night in Munich.

Leroy Sane added a second before the break and Rasmus Hojlund netted his first goal for United to give them hope of a comeback after the restart.

Eriksen was harshly judged to have handled the ball which led a a penalty that Harry Kane dispatched with ease. Casemiro then score twice - either side of a Mathys Tel rocket - but United couldn’t rescue a draw.

Erik Ten Hag’s side looked like a team with a defensive injury crisis, who have conceded more goals than all Premier League sides bar two.

Bayern’s frontline looks extremely dangerous on the break, and having Harry Kane upfront to help knit it all together makes it look difficult for United to avoid conceding more goals if they decide to push forward to try and get back into the game.
