From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pep Guardiola’s resources are depleted with Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte both out injured, while Sergio Aguero has complained of exhaustion, but Gabriel Jesus and John Stones are both back and fully fit.
Bournemouth are struggling for form after such an impressive first half of the season, so a shock win against the champions would be a timely boost. Follow it live:

62 minutes
Manuel Lanzini is starting to purr.
A delicious back heel finds Arthur Masuaku on the left, who chops inside and diagonally finds Javier Hernandez.
The flight of the ball takes him close to the byline and his touch further still, and thus the angle is rather acute when Hernandez unfurls his volley.
Side netting.
63 minutes
Ayoze Perez stays down after Angelo Ogbonna firmly but fairly slides the ball away from the Spaniard, but as soon as West Ham put the ball out Perez is back on his feet to remonstrate with Chris Kavanagh, aggrieved with the no foul decision.
Kavanagh glares at the Newcastle attacker, and he trudges away, shaking his head.
65 minutes
A second substitution for Rafa Benitez, and a formation change, too.
Paul Dummett replaces Fabian Schar and will go to left-back, with Matt Ritchie pushed further on with Newcastle going to a back four.
66 minutes
Mohamed Diame's shot is deflected wide, earning Newcastle another corner.
Arthur Masuaku is booked as the corner is prepared, presumably for an earlier infringement perhaps missed by the cameras.
67 minutes
Isaac Hayden is booked for hauling down Robert Snodgrass as West Ham look to counter after clearing the corner.
Masuaku's booking was for a tug of Salomon Rondon's arm as the Newcastle striker moved away from the left back.
69 minutes
Marko Arnautovic's illness has subsided in the last few days, and he'll get 20 minutes from the bench.
Javier Hernandez has put in a good shift and is applauded off.
71 minutes
Javier Manquillo is fed the ball in space on the right by Salomon Rondon and looks for the early cross.
Ayoze Perez is in considerable space at the far post and should really be found by his compatriot, but Manquillo puts too much loft on a relatively simple pass.
72 minutes
Finally a chance to head towards goal for Salomon Rondon.
Arthur Masuaku gets his melon in the way to prevent Rondon finding the bottom corner.
From the resulting set-piece, Lukasz Fabianski is fouled as he comes to claim.
75 minutes
Manuel Lanzini just seems to be tiring a little.
He gives the ball away 35 yards from the Newcastle goal with players well-placed either side of him.
