Pep Guardiola on Yaya Toure's time at Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne is a better all-round footballer than Mohamed Salah and could play for any club in the world, according to Brighton boss Chris Hughton. “For me, De Bruyne’s the more complete player and I think it's taken an exceptional season from Salah to win the awards ahead of De Bruyne,” said Hughton.

De Bruyne has been instrumental in Manchester City’s impressive Premier League title success but was beaten to both the PFA Players' Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards by Liverpool's prolific top scorer Salah.

Albion face the in-form duo in a daunting end to the season, with Wednesday's visit to the Etihad Stadium followed by a trip to Anfield on Sunday.

And, while Hughton has great admiration for both men, he thinks Belgium international De Bruyne just has the edge. Follow live coverage of the match below.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR WILL PLAY IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEXT YEAR! It has finished at Wembley, Harry Kane the sole goalscorer as Spurs grab three points. The 1-0 victory was not a vintage performance by any means, and Newcastle had their chances, with Jonjo Shelvey hitting the woodwork with a well-struck free-kick.

Spurs will not mind the fashion of the victory, though. They leapfrog Liverpool into third position and now cannot be caught by Chelsea, and thus will be playing Champions League football in 2018-19.

That's all from an eventful night of Premier League action that saw confirmation that Huddersfield will remain in the top division next season and Spurs assure themselves of Champions League football in 2018-19.

I've been Harry Latham-Coyle for The Independent - good night.
