Although in the heart of the countryside in the northeast of the island (between San Miguel and Santa Gertrudis), Ca Na Xica is only a short drive from the airport and Ibiza Town (both about 20 minutes away). It's really all about pampered seclusion here. You'll find a sandy beach at Benirràs, which is also known for its Sunday night bongo drummers; head also to Ibiza Town to explore the cobbled Dalt Vila.

By plane: there are direct flights from London (2 hours 30 mins) and Manchester (2 hours 50 mins). The hotel is a 25-minute drive from the airport. Free parking on-site. Book flights to Ibiza.

White walls predominate and stand in stark contrast to the terracotta stone tiles in this Finca-style property where you are surrounded by vegetation - long grasses, cacti, olive and almond trees, and a lemon and orange orchard. The partly open-air restaurant is another major feature, with bathrooms labelled 'blah' and 'blahblahblah'.

Service is discreet and magically appears whenever required, for example the concierge can arrange a boat trip. The facilities are superb and the T-shaped saltwater pool, surrounded by trees, is a major plus. There's a well-equipped gym, a chance for yoga and a small man-made beach by the spa.

Key amenities: ensuite shower or bath, private terrace, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi

Salvia, the partly open-air restaurant, is a treat - perfectly understated in design and offering spots where you can follow the sun for breakfast and then dinner. Locally sourced Mediterranean cuisine is the order of the day. It's not that cheap but this is a time to spoil yourself.

Salvia Restaurant: Mediterranean dishes, local fish and meat with fruit and vegetables from the hotel's organic garden. Open for breakfast and dinner.

Pool bar: fresh juices, drinks, cocktails.
