The Review: The Hoxton Holborn, London
A terrific hotel that's both a convenient and stylish base for the capital, with chic, contemporary guest rooms, a buzzy bar and a couple of excellent restaurants - a great choice for anyone wanting to explore central London, either on foot or by public transport.

OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Brilliantly located on the edge of Covent Garden, two minutes from Holborn Tube station and a shortish walk from Oxford Street and Soho, this is a terrific location if you want to be close to what central London has to offer - most places can be easily and quickly reached on foot, and it's also very well connected public-transport-wise. Whichever direction you walk in from the hotel you will come across something interesting.
By car: the hotel is 4 hours from Manchester and less than 3 hours from Bristol. Parking costs £30 per day.
By train: Holborn tube station is 2 mins walk away; London Euston is a 10-min taxi ride. Book trains to London.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Occupying a former British Telecom office building, Hoxton's Holborn premises is a 220-room hotel that feels much more boutique than it actually is, with the hotel group's signature big, accessible lobby given over to food, drink and chat and annoyingly functional spots like the reception tucked away almost out of sight at the back.
THE FACILITIES
The hotel has a 24-hour reception, room service, two restaurants and bars on the ground floor and in the basement, as well as a very alluring collection of private dining spaces and meeting rooms set around a central kitchen, some of which are large enough to host a small wedding.
- Bar
- Two restaurants
- Coffee house
- Free bicycles
- Pet-friendly
- Free Wi-Fi
BED AND BATH
As with all the Hoxton's, room categories vary from 'Shoebox' - the smallest - through 'Cosy' - the most common - up to 30-square-metre 'Biggies'. The look and feel of most of the rooms are stripped back, with spacious black-tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers, but all the rooms are comfortable and cosy and provided with the same amenities.
Room types: Shoebox, Snug, Cosy, Cosy Up, Roomy, Biggy
Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilites, TV, radio, mini fridge, free Wi-Fi
FOOD AND DRINK
The hotel has two bars at each end of the lobby and two restaurants on the ground floor, Rondo and the basement 'Rondo Le Cave'. The latter specializes in natural wines and trials new restaurant concepts before they roll them out at other Hoxtons around the world, so expect anything from Peruvian cuisine to gourmet pizzas. The Rondo serves a Modern British menu that incorporates lots of fresh seasonal produce and includes plenty of veggie options.
Rondo: Bistro restaurant, British cuisine. All-day menu, open daily. Main dishes from £15.
