OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Located just by Paddington station, the hotel lies in an excellent position, close to Notting Hill and just a 15-minute stroll from Hyde Park and the Serpentine. It's also easily accessible from Heathrow. Lots of London sights are within walking distance but why not try paddleboarding your way up to Little Venice from Active 360 in Paddington basin.
By car: around 2 hours from Brighton, 2 hours 30 mins from Bristol and Birmingam, and 4 hours from Manchester.
By train: there are direct trains to Paddington from Oxford (57 minutes) Bristol (1 hour 35 mins) and Penzance (5 hours 10 mins). The hotel is only 2 minute's walk from the station. Book trains to London.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The hotel is a bit of a warren but hangs together very well stylistically, with lots of upcycled fixtures and furnishings and a focus on sustainability, with stripped walls, recycled wood panelling and parquet flooring, marble table tops and renovated cast-iron radiators all combining to give a slick yet comfy mid-century feel.
THE FACILITIES
All rooms have en-suite bathrooms of roughly the same size, and access to a pantry on each floor where you can grab tea or coffee (or a book). There's still and sparkling water always on tap in the downstairs café or first-floor lounge - just ask for your own recyclable bottle when you arrive.
