OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The Hoxton's Southwark location is just the thing if you want to stay in a slightly more peaceful area, slightly removed from central London's hubbub. The hotel's immediate area is both neighbourly and historic, with a web of streets that are a delight to explore despite being a little off the beaten tourist track, with some great local pubs and restaurants. You're a ten-minute riverside walk from Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market to the east and the London Eye and Palace of Westminster to the west.

By car: the hotel is 4.5 hours from Manchester and less than 3 hours from Bristol. Parking costs £30 per day.

By train: Southwark tube station is 2 minutes' walk away; London Bridge and Waterloo are a 5-minute taxi ride. Book trains to London.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The style is contemporary, slightly industrial, but very comfortable: rooms have concrete floors, exposed pipes and industrial lighting, but are soothing and stylish places to come back to after a hard day's sightseeing, and the overall vibe is the most friendly and relaxed of Hoxton's London locations.

THE FACILITIES

Hoxton Southwark is a full-service hotel with a 24-hour reception, room service till 11 pm, two excellent restaurants and bars and lots of space for meetings, private dining, co-working, and just hanging out. It's dog-friendly too, providing dog bowls and treats and even a doggy guide to the area.

FOOD AND DRINK

The hotel offers a good range of food and drinks options, from the relaxed Albie's restaurant in the lobby, which serves burgers, salads, sharing boards and snacks all day and evening, to the rightly very popular Seabird restaurant on the 11th floor, which specializes in Mediterranean seafood and has one of the best views in London from its large terrace.

Seabird: rooftop restaurant, seafood and raw bar. Open daily, lunch and dinner. Sunday brunch, 11am-4pm.
