Hotel Review: The Mayson, Dublin
A classic four-star hotel set in a beautiful Victorian building dating from 1880, which used to be a school. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed, with interconnecting rooms for families. Luxurious executive rooms have air conditioning, Nespresso machines and extensive TV channels. The bar and lounge has an all-day menu, and there is also a small gym and a barber salon.

OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The hotel is on North Wall Quay on the River Liffey, around 2km or 25 minutes' walk from O'Connell Bridge and the city centre. The hotel is in the north docklands, beside the IFSC (International Financial Services Centre) and near attractions like the 3 Arena and Dublin Convention Centre.
By plane: direct flights to Dublin from Manchester and Birmingham (1 hour), and London (1 hour 15 minutes). It's a 15-minute drive to the hotel. Paid parking on-site and availabl nearby. Book flights to Dublin.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The public areas of the hotel have a lively, trendy vibe and are split between a red-brick Georgian townhouse which has a pub and restaurant, and a modern glass and steel building with a rooftop restaurant overlooking the River Liffey. The modern building is built into an old docklands warehouse so there's an interesting mix of red brick walls and glass and steel - and some rooms have both.
THE FACILITIES
There are three dining areas - Ryleigh's Rooftop Steakhouse, Elephant and Castle, and The Bottle Boy pub, which also has a barber. There is a huge well-equipped Power Gym, with a spin studio, sauna and steam room, and guests can join a range of classes.
