OVERVIEW

Spotless five-star Lava Beach, Lanzarote's newest hotel, is so brand spanking youthful in appearance you could be forgiven for thinking it has just been assembled by flat pack. Its pearly white exterior resembles the master plan of César Manrique, the island's great champion, to keep tourism as subtle as possible.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The striking mural of Lanzarote's legendary Famara beach at reception sets the tone at Hotel Lava Beach; it's by Salamanca-born but adopted son of Lanzarote, artist Ildefonso Aguilar. A brooding Atlantic rarely looks much more fantastic on canvas. The design is minimalistic overall, the style subdued, and the ambience chilled.

THE FACILITIES

Personal service is assured by friendly staff who are open to a conversation with guests. There is a main lagoon-shaped pool and a smaller one for kids. As well as a gym, there is a paddle tennis court. Evening entertainment is provided in the form of nightly live music performances.
