Is there anything more adorable than a baby in fancy dress? We’d struggle to find an answer to this, especially after going on the hunt for baby Halloween costumes. Whether you (and your little one) love going all out at Halloween or like something a little more subtle, we’ve found leggings, sleepsuits and costumes that will get everyone cooing over your tot. And the more expensive items make great hand-me-downs too. Most we’ve found are unisex and available in newborn to three/four years. So have fun deciding what would look best for your Halloween party plans.
1. Little Dandies Hand-printed Cat Halloween Babygrow: £16, Not on the High Street
This hand-printed babygrow from baby and child print company Little Dandies is an adorable way of getting your baby looking ready for Halloween. Available in nought to 12 months, this babygrow with a bright orange background and black cat print makes your little one look like a spooky but rather cute character. The "boo!" printed on the bottom adds a little fun too. It’s a little tricky to get on but really easy to get off if your baby has an accident, with roll down features at the shoulder.
2. Blade & Rose Crazy Cat Leggings: £10, Blade & Rose
British brand Blade & Rose specialises in leggings and accessories for nought to four-year-olds and we love these Crazy Cat leggings for a bit of Halloween fun. They’re also made mostly of cotton (75 per cent) so shouldn’t irritate the skin. You can add the super-soft Crazy Cat socks and newly launched t-shirt to complete the look. But if you’re not into cats there’s also a bright pumpkin pair of leggings available to get your little one looking ready for Halloween.
3. Braveling Robo-tot Tights: £15.99, Braveling
These funky alien tights will make your little one look like they’re from another planet, while keeping their little legs warm in the autumn chill. Made up of mainly cotton (80 per cent), we think these tights, with a robo eye printed on each knee, are a stylish way of joining in the Halloween spirit. Match with a green jumper for the full robo alien effect. These tights are available from nought to three years, although Braveling do a whole range of fun tights to pick from.
4. Beau Loves Jet Black White Ghosts Romper Suit: £32, Cissy Wears
Although a little pricier than other products featured, this spooky romper from London brand Cissy Wears is ideal for any tiny tot Halloween party. The black base means stains are hidden and the frightening ghosts printed at random fit the Halloween vibe perfectly – although we still think our little tester looked adorable. It’s fairly thick too, so your baby should stay warm. You can put this on little ones aged three to 24 months.
5. John Lewis Baby Halloween Romper Playsuit and Hat Set: £14, John Lewis
John Lewis has a great range of Halloween outfits but our favourite is this reasonably priced pumpkin set. The hat is a cute addition to a classic Halloween costume and the striped suit comes with a popper fastening to the front and crotch area for easy access to change nappies. Queue a load of ‘awww’ as you enter the room with your little one in this outfit.
6. M&S Pure Cotton Bat Sleepsuit: £8-9, M&S
M&S has created a range of super-soft, comfy sleepsuits and bodysuits for Halloween babies – think ghosts, spiders and pumpkins. Our favourite is this unisex, pure cotton bat print for tiny ones to snooze in. It’s available in sizes ‘Tiny’ to two-three years, has popper fastenings around the crotch and is long sleeved. Considering the very reasonable price, this one is a great option for newborns that aren’t old enough for a full outfit but you still want to be part of the fun.
7. Party Delights Baby Bat Baby Costume: £21.99, Party Delights
If Halloween is your favourite time of year and you’re willing to dress your baby in a full costume, this baby bat costume is a winner. It comes with Velcro and popper fastenings (hood and wings attach with Velcro) and you can put it in the washing machine to clean afterwards. This will make for some funny photos that you can embarrass your little one with once they hit their teenage years. It’s available in sizes to fit six to 24 months.
8. Sparks Clothing Bat Halloween Baby Sleepsuit: £18, Not on the High Street
Sparks clothing is a mother and daughter team from Somerset, who produce a range of original prints on clothing and bags. This goofy bat-print sleepsuit is an understated Halloween outfit for nought to 18-month-old babies that could also work past October 31. It’s 100 per cent cotton, so shouldn’t irritate your baby’s skin, and has a popper fastening around the legs for easy nappy changing.
