Brighton and Hove Albion’s super-subs stunned Premier League champions Liverpool as the Seagulls kept their faint hopes of a European spot alive with a thrilling 3-2 win on Monday night.

Conor Bradley celebrated his new Liverpool contract by setting up Harvey Elliott’s opening goal inside ten minutes, but Brighton responded well and deservedly levelled when Yasin Ayari finished off a fine move.

Liverpool were ahead again moments before half time as Dominik Szoboszlai's cross from the angle snuck over the head of Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

After the break, Mohamed Salah missed a glorious chance to equal the record for Premier League goal involvements in a single season as he turned wide from just six yards after being set up by Cody Gakpo.

Kaoru Mitoma came off the bench to equalise again after Alisson had saved from Danny Welbeck, with the winger controlling a rising ball to finish the rebound.

And another substitute, Jack Hinshelwood, also played his part to score the winning goal two minutes after his introduction as Brighton moved up to eighth place in the table.

Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

22 mins: It should be 2-0! Lovely move again from Liverpool, cutting through the Brighton defence as they go from back to front. It falls to Chiesa on the edge of the box. He wonders whether to shoot, but tees up Bradley.

You think the Northern Irishman is going to add a goal to his earlier assist, but he places it wide of the far post!

Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

13 mins: On a week where Conor Bradley signed a new contract extension, and where Liverpool moved closer to signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, that run down the right wing showed why the Reds are confident the right back position will be in good hands once Trent Alexander-Arnold departs.

GOAL! Brighton 0-1 Liverpool (ELLIOTT 9')

CONOR BRADLEY WOW! Liverpool lead!

Excellent team goal. Szoboszlai starts it with the switch to Salah, who knocks it on to Bradley. The right back skips to the byline, nutmegs a Brighton defender and puts it on a plate for Elliott.

He celebrates an easy tap-in and Liverpool lead.
