Chelsea suffered another setback in their erratic season on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 home draw by 10-man Burnley who remain deep in Premier League relegation trouble.

Mauricio Pochettino’s expensively-assembled side looked to be in the driving seat when Burnley‘s Lorenz Assignon was shown a second yellow card for bringing down Mykhailo Mudryk and top-scorer Cole Palmer converted the resulting penalty in the 44th minute.

But Josh Cullen stunned Stamford Bridge by scoring two minutes into the second half with a fine shot from outside the box.

Chelsea struggled to make their numerical advantage count before restoring their lead in the 78th minute when Palmer scored again, this time with a low shot. Burnley were level again three minutes later, however, when Dara O’Shea headed home from a corner.

The draw left Chelsea in 11th place in the table while Burnley are 19th, four points behind 17-placed Nottingham Forest.

That goal has silenced the home crowd, and Chelsea are working to try and change that. They look to Gusto on the right once more, but he can't get away from Taylor this time.

Despite a slightly slow start, Pochettino will be pleased with what he's seen from his side. They created an xG (expected goals) of 2.33 from their 16 shots, seven of which were on target, and they look likely to add more to their tally after the break. Burnley had a couple of bright moments but only managed an xG of 0.48 from their 10 shots. Petrovic made a couple of comfortable saves, but this could be a long second half for the 10-man Clarets.

Palmer's penalty separates the sides at the break, with Chelsea beating 10-man Burnley 1-0. The Blues were dominant in the first half, and they thought they'd taken the lead through Disasi 20 minutes in, but the goal was disallowed as it went in off his elbow. Muric made some great saves to deny Fernandez and Jackson before things went downhill for Burnley. Assignon brought down Mudryk in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot and gave the Frenchman his second yellow of the game. Kompany was also sent off for dissent before Palmer scored a wonderful Panenka penalty to put his side in front.

GOOD SAVE! Gusto has shown a real threat down the right all game so far, and he advances forward from right-back once more. He takes on a shot himself this time, but Muric makes himself big to smother it.

Burnley are sitting deeper than they were earlier in the game, allowing Chelsea to keep possession in front of them. The Blues are staying patient though, trying to draw them out.
