Flamengo 3-1 Chelsea: Enzo Maresca’s side imploded in the second half as Flamengo came from behind to score twice in six minutes and substitute Nicolas Jackson was sent off
Chelsea suffered a damaging defeat to Flamengo in their second match of the Club World Cup group stages, having led until the 62nd minute before rapidly imploding.
Enzo Maresca’s side opened the competition with a 2-0 win over LAFC earlier this week but could not replicate that today in Philadelphia.
Instead it was the Brazilian side who took the spoils, coming from behind to score twice in a chaotic six minute spell after Pedro Neto put Chelsea ahead inside the first 15 minutes.
Flamengo substitute Bruno Henrique scored a tap-in to equalise and minutes later turned provider as Danilo put the ‘home’ side in front, roared on by a vocal contingent of travelling fans.
Another substitute, this time Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, was then sent off a mere four minutes after coming on for stamping on Ayrton Lucas’ shin, and the remarkable turnaround was complete as another sub, 20-year-old Wallace Yan, scored his first goal for the side inside the final 10 minutes of normal time.

In the space of a few minutes the momentum has completely swung. Flamengo have been poor from set-pieces but the corner falls to Henrique, who heads it down into the path of Danilo’s outstretched foot - and he gets a toe to it at the far post!
The substitutes sprint onto the pitch to celebrate. There’s a party in the stands.

It’s the substitute Henrique who makes the difference, a fabulous deep ball is floated in by Gerson to Plata at the far post, who heads it down. It goes bobbling past Sanchez across the front of goal and Henrique is there at the post to tap in!
The travelling support go absolutely nuts.

61 mins: Palmer goes down clutching his knee as two Flamengo shirts target him, and the Chelsea man gets caught in an uncomfortable sandwich. Ouch.
Now Flamengo have an incredible chance! Plata and Henrique play a lovely disguised one-two before laying off to Araujo; he takes a touch in the centre of the box and Sanchez tips it over the bar! Right in front of the travelling Flamengo support.
The resulting corner is poor and Chelsea clear with ease.

Gerson hits the deck as his duel with Cucurella continues. That feistiness of the first half hasn’t gone anywhere.
Pedro Neto advances down the left, one on one with Danilo, and crosses in looking for a teammate, but no luck.
