Flamengo 3-1 Chelsea: Enzo Maresca’s side imploded in the second half as Flamengo came from behind to score twice in six minutes and substitute Nicolas Jackson was sent off
Chelsea suffered a damaging defeat to Flamengo in their second match of the Club World Cup group stages, having led until the 62nd minute before rapidly imploding.
Enzo Maresca’s side opened the competition with a 2-0 win over LAFC earlier this week but could not replicate that today in Philadelphia.
Instead it was the Brazilian side who took the spoils, coming from behind to score twice in a chaotic six minute spell after Pedro Neto put Chelsea ahead inside the first 15 minutes.
Flamengo substitute Bruno Henrique scored a tap-in to equalise and minutes later turned provider as Danilo put the ‘home’ side in front, roared on by a vocal contingent of travelling fans.
Another substitute, this time Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, was then sent off a mere four minutes after coming on for stamping on Ayrton Lucas’ shin, and the remarkable turnaround was complete as another sub, 20-year-old Wallace Yan, scored his first goal for the side inside the final 10 minutes of normal time.

21 mins: Ayrton Lucas pulls back Caicedo, who launches himself, predictably, onto the turf.
Rossi comes sprinting off his line to clear the ball ahead of an onrushing Delap, who gets the better of a Flamengo defender. There’s been some less than composed defending from the Brazilian side so far.

17 mins: There’s a good atmosphere so far, largely coming from the Flamengo fans glad in black and red, who haven’t lost any enthusiasm despite going behind. Hard to tell how busy the stadium is as the camera is sticking firmly to panning across the lowest tier of the stands.
Fernandez whacks his foot right across the chest of Gerson, for no apparent reason. The Flamengo player goes down a tad too lightly but there was no need for that.

13 mins: Oh dear, Flamengo are caught out as the ball bounces off Wesley near the centre of the pitch, right into the path of Pedro Neto.
He runs off immediately and gets one on one with Rossi, and slots firmly past him.

12 mins: Brazil defender Danilo defends well to get the better of the countering Pedro Neto. Quite a busy first ten minutes under the scorching Philadelphia sun.
Chelsea are caught out by a long ball to Gerson down the right flank, who feints and outwits Caicedo to lay it off for De Arrascaeta, who crosses in, but Sanchez is there.
Bit of argy-bargy now as Caicedo clatters into Jorginho, who hits the deck, and the players plead their case to the ref. Caicedo goes into the book and isn’t happy about it.

8 mins: Flamengo break again and Luiz Araujo runs into space down the left, but Caicedo foils the move.
Chelsea win a free-kick as Araujo takes a touch on Reece James, who leaps to the floor.
It’s a windy day in Philadelphia and balloons are floating somewhat forlornly all over the pitch, getting in everyone’s way.

6 mins: Luis has a go now and Sanchez leaps to save - a straightforward save for the keeper, but Flamengo have been lively so far.
Now Chelsea break and Delap charges down the right, maybe taking one touch too many; his strike is saved by the keeper as he tips it over the bar.
Colwill gets his head to a corner but is surrounded and can’t do anything with it.

4 mins: Colwill stamps on Gerson’s foot and the Flamengo player launches himself onto the turf.
A scrappy start to this one.
Flamengo have a great opportunity as Sanchez plays out from the back and the Brazilian side latch onto it, but an attempt goalward just runs out of zip.
Chelsea fall asleep at the back again and de Arrascaeta gets his toe to the ball but launches the ball over the bar.

Enzo Maresca has a chat with DAZN pre-match.
He’s opted to start Delap over Jackson and says, “They are both very good and we decide game by game who is going to play. We have brought in some other players, Trevoh Chalobah is in from the start, so we made some changes and hopefully they are good ones.
“They are quite similar. Liam needs time to adapt to his teammates, the way we want him to play, but no doubt he is going to do well.”
