Flamengo 3-1 Chelsea: Enzo Maresca’s side imploded in the second half as Flamengo came from behind to score twice in six minutes and substitute Nicolas Jackson was sent off
Chelsea suffered a damaging defeat to Flamengo in their second match of the Club World Cup group stages, having led until the 62nd minute before rapidly imploding.
Enzo Maresca’s side opened the competition with a 2-0 win over LAFC earlier this week but could not replicate that today in Philadelphia.
Instead it was the Brazilian side who took the spoils, coming from behind to score twice in a chaotic six minute spell after Pedro Neto put Chelsea ahead inside the first 15 minutes.
Flamengo substitute Bruno Henrique scored a tap-in to equalise and minutes later turned provider as Danilo put the ‘home’ side in front, roared on by a vocal contingent of travelling fans.
Another substitute, this time Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, was then sent off a mere four minutes after coming on for stamping on Ayrton Lucas’ shin, and the remarkable turnaround was complete as another sub, 20-year-old Wallace Yan, scored his first goal for the side inside the final 10 minutes of normal time.

That’s the end of an often frenetic, although not the highest quality, half. Chelsea lead at the break courtesy of some dismal Flamengo defending and a good run by Pedro Neto.

45+3 mins: Pereira sends a tame header straight at Sanchez, who again takes his sweet time letting go of the ball.
Flamengo build again, Araujo lays it off for de Arrascaeta. He cuts it back at the byline but Cucurella charges to it ahead of Plata.
Flamengo have a corner, it travels out to Wesley, who thinks why not, have a go... it almost looks like it will bobble in, but Sanchez gets there.

45 mins: Gerson pulls Fernandez’s shirt and there’s a brief check for a penalty as Chelsea claim contact carried on into the area... no dice. Fernandez isn’t happy.
Three minutes added on to this half.
Now Delap receives a yellow for a rash challenge on Pereira, jabbing his elbow at him. No need for that.

44 mins: Wesley makes a brilliant clearance, sliding in to deny Delap as Neto races down the right flank, arcing towards goal.

43 mins: After an age James takes the free-kick, laying it off for Palmer, but it’s cleared.
Luis Araujo now punts the ball goalward but there’s no Flamengo man anywhere near it and Sanchez collects at leisure.
Scrappy now. Cucurella runs into Wesley, making zero attempt to get the ball, and acts very surprised when he concedes a free-kick.
Now Colwill makes a goal-line clearance from the resulting free-kick, heading back out! Brilliant stuff.

39 mins: Colwill slips and throws the ball out of play to buy himself some time. Chelsea have slowed things right down, which will suit them nicely.
Danilo makes a hash of a clearance and the long ball lands into the path of Neto, who runs off... and then stops, for some reason. Chelsea tried to build an attack but Flamengo have bodies back now. A chorus of boos ring out.
Jorginho concedes a free kick under pressure from Palmer.

35 mins: Enzo Maresca takes advantage of the drinks break (allowed because of high temperatures this week) to give his side some tactical advice. Neto has a rather heated-looking chat with the referee.
Break over, Chalobah glides nicely on the ball and tees up Delap, but the former Ipswich man, on the spin, clatters it off a defender.

29 mins: Chelsea counter and Malo Gusto strikes from range. It bounces a couple of yards out from Rossi, who spills it, but there’s no white shirt anywhere near him to get the rebound.
Pedro Neto holds the ball up well and nutmegs a defender; the ball falls into the path of Delap, but the move gets snuffed out. And the former Ipswich man and Pereira get in a tussle! The ref comes over to tell them to get a grip.
Break in play now for the players to grab a drink.

27 mins: Wesley sends a cross flying from the right flank but there’s no teammate anywhere in the box and James comes sprinting back to make the clearance.
Sanchez jumps to collect the resulting corner. He’s lucky to not concede another corner after holding onto the ball a fraction too long.
Wesley now cuts the ball back at the byline, getting the better of Cucurella, but Chalobah gets a toe to it before Plata can. The flag goes up for offside anyway.

24 mins: Flamengo are pressing again but not quite getting the final pass in. Right-back Wesley tries to find Plata but Cucurella steps in to make the block.
Pedro Neto wipes out de Arrascaeta on the right side of the box and the referee immediately brandishes a yellow.
Araujo takes a free-kick and it launches out for a corner - it looked to take a hefty deflection there. The resulting corner is dealt with easily.
