Liverpool vs Newcastle LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction after late Fabio Carvalho winner
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool end Newcastle’s unbeaten start with last minute winner
The clock had ticked into the 98th minute. It was so late that it felt Divock Origi territory, except there is no Origi at Anfield any more. But if there was a vacancy for a new supersub, perhaps Fabio Carvalho is filling it.
His first Liverpool goal came as a replacement against Bournemouth on Saturday. His second was far more significant, ending Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the season, getting Liverpool a win when a draw beckoned, suggesting they have regained their capacity for the unlikely.
It was taken beautifully, Carvalho celebrating his 20th birthday the previous day by swivelling to volley in after a bout of penalty-box pinball.
The ball had come via Mohamed Salah’s shoulder but the sweetest touch came from the summer signing and Liverpool, not for the first time in Klopp’s reign, proved experts in escapology.
For the eighth time in nine league games they trailed. They conjured a comeback victory against a hugely impressive Newcastle side.

Diaz fizzes a square pass across to Elliott which could prove dangerous for Newcastle if it wasn’t for Burn leaping into action and intercepting the ball with a lunging slide.
He works it away and Newcastle sweep forward. Their attack is cut short thanks to a foul from Fabinho.
72’ - Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle
Chris Wood has come on for Newcastle replacing Alexander Isak who immediately puts an ice pack on his leg which isn’t the best sign considering his fine debut tonight.

There’s something off about this Liverpool team. Tey’res not flowing and working as we all know they can which must be mightily infuriating for Jurgen Klopp.
When they move the ball quickly the crowd gets excited but once again their play in the final third is poor. Robertson’s cross comes straight into the arms of Pope.

Disallowed goal! Henderson and Longstaff have a barny in the Newcastle penalty area which results in a free kick for the visitors. Pope sends it over to Targett who threads it down the line and plays Isak in behind Gomez.
