Liverpool are out of the Champions League after Paris Saint-Germain overturned a first-leg defeat and held their nerve to win on penalties at Anfield.

The Reds suffered their first major blow under Arne Slot as Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones saw their efforts saved by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and PSG scored all of theirs.

Luis Enrique’s team won 1-0 on the night as Ousmane Dembele cancelled out Harvey Elliott’s late winner in the Parc des Princes last week.

Dembele levelled the tie after just 11 minutes and, despite a bright start from Liverpool, it gave PSG the momentum to dominate the first half.

Liverpool were the better team after the break but could not make the most of their superiority and PSG survived long spells of pressure to reach extra time.

And Liverpool are facing a defensive injury crisis before Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle after Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate were forced off.

5 minutes to kickoff!

Here. We. Go.

The energy in the stadium is palpable as the teams take to the pitch and the fans belt out a goosebump-raising rendition of ‘You’ll never walk alone’.

Its all to play for tonight. Let’s get into it.

Another record on the cards for Mo Salah

Another day, another record equalled. It must get boring at some point.

Having been named in tonight’s starting XI, Opta report that Mohammed Salah will move level with Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s second-most experienced Champions League player, with 73 appearances.

Only Jamie Carragher (80) has more.

Should Liverpool reach the final and Salah appear in every match, the Egyptian King will finish the season with 78. Might need one more season to cement that record!

'PSG need a historic Champions League night at Anfield'

Liverpool have won an away first leg 39 times in Europe and gone through at Anfield on all 39 occasions so Paris Saint-Germain have to make history tonight if they are to be quarter-finalists. They have picked the same team as last week, hoping for the same performance and a different result. Liverpool are looking for the same team to produce the same result, but preferably with a different performance.
