Hotel Review: Artist Residence, Cornwall

Ideally located on the town's much-loved Chapel Street, the hotel is a convenient base to explore the west Cornish coast. It's a five-minute walk to the seafront with its art deco, geothermal heated Jubilee Pool. Explore the most Westerly section of the South West Coast path for scenes straight out of Poldark, or drive 20 minutes to some of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches including Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre, Pedn Olva and Sennen cove.

By car: Penzance is approx 300 miles from London - a 6-7 hour drive. There is no on-site parking.

By train: The hotel is around ten minutes' walk from Penzance train station. The London - Penzance sleeper train takes 7.5 hours, or 5.5 hours during the day. Book trains to Penzance.

Walls are adorned with an eclectic array of limited edition prints and original murals from up and coming artists and British galleries, curated and collected with the intent of raising a smile and sparking conversation. Vintage-rustic furnishings and contemporary colorful artworks are combined with the grand original features of the Georgian coach house.

Expect warm and down-to-earth service, where you will feel 100% at home. There's a light-filled café and bar serving a wholesome menu of Cornish produce alongside inventive cocktails, whilst outside you'll find a terrace garden with retractable awning and a Shack bar serving frozen margaritas and lobster rolls during the Summer months. There are just 16 double bedrooms, three suites and a three-bedroom cottage - tucked away, just around the corner from the main hotel. Most bathrooms are home to freestanding copper and brass bathtubs and walk-in rain showers, with Cornish-made Bramley products.

Expect simple, wholesome and fuss-free plates showcasing the freshest Cornish produce. Signature dishes include sweet and spicy prawn tacos and smoked beer-can chicken. On Sundays, the beef-brisket roast is a must, and the bar serves a selection of unique cocktails.
