OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Sitting on the western edge of SoHo in downtown Manhattan, the Dominick is just a few blocks from TriBeCa. The area does not have the edge it possessed when it comprised industrial and warehousing districts beloved by artists, but even so, is hip and has an element of the bohemian. It's just a five-minute walk to the West Village, and you're near several subway lines.

By plane: flights to New York take 6 hours 50 mins from London and Edinburgh, and 7 hours 10 mins from Manchester. The hotel is a 45-minute taxi ride from JFK airport. Private parking costs $81 per day. Book flights to New York.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The entrance and lobby, with its abundance of natural stone, woodwork, and mid-century modern-inspired furniture sets the scene for a luxurious look throughout virtually all of the hotel. There are nods to industrial chic and lots of natural light courtesy of the plethora of floor-to-ceiling windows.

THE FACILITIES

The staff on the whole are professional and friendly. There's a spa with hammans, saunas and steam rooms, and a fitness centre offering thrilling city views and Peloton and TechnoGym equipment, weights and more. The terrace pool has cabanas. There's a 24-hour concierge, in-room dining and two restaurants and bar areas.

BED AND BATH

The guest rooms and suites are especially spacious and feature 10ft floor-to-ceiling windows so as to enjoy the phenomenal views as best as possible. There is custom furniture by Fendi Casa, a big desk area, a seating area and plush bedding. Bathrooms have both baths and rain showers and Turkish Marmara stone.

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom, free toiletries, TV, free Wi-Fi

FOOD AND DRINK

The Dominick's signature restaurant is the sleekly-styled Vestry, primarily offering inventive seafood dishes and overseen by Michelin Starred chef Shaun Hergatt. The more casual Mezzanine has café and restaurant areas. With black wood wall panelling and chairs with an off-gold finish, it has the slight feel of an airport lounge restaurant. The food, mainly American modern cuisine, is expensive for the standard provided.

Vestry: seasonal menu, contemporary cuisine, seafood. Open daily for dinner.

Mezzanine: all-day dining and cocktails. Open daily. Mains from $28.
