Hotel Review: Loews Regency New York Hotel
This smart long-established luxury hotel - home of the original 'power breakfast' - has a buzzing restaurant and bar, modern gym, swish spa and a salon, and is near lots of high-end shopping, restaurants and Central Park. It's well-situated for exploring the city, with several subway lines nearby for exploring further afield.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Located where Manhattan's swanky Upper East Side meets Midtown on stylish Park Avenue, this is one of New York's wealthiest areas. That's underlined by the expensive restaurants and shops, such as Bloomingdale's flagship store, Gucci, Hermes, Bergdorf's and Barney's. With eight subway lines within a five-minute walk, going further afield is quick and simple. Smart Michelin-starred restaurant Daniel is a short walk away; for something more relaxed try Lavo Italian restaurant and nightclub.
By plane: flights to New York take 6 hours 50 mins from London and Edinburgh, and 7 hours 10 mins from Manchester. The hotel is a 35-minute taxi ride from JFK airport. Public parking from $82/day. Book flights to New York.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
This chic hotel has lots of slick spaces for gathering for a drink, meal or chat. Its clientele can often be as smartly decorated as its interiors, which were spruced up following a $100m makeover in 2014. The ambience is refined rather than raucous, just like the décor.
THE FACILITIES
As well as a destination restaurant and bar, bustling lounge and lovely coffee shop, the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre (with personal trainers available), a small business centre and a large spa and salon.

FOOD AND DRINK
The Regency Bar and Grill is famous for being home to the 'power breakfast'. Serving American cuisine throughout the day, there's hearty breakfast fare, steaks, pizzas and salads. There is also a Sant Ambroeus coffee bar serving Milanese-style coffee, pastries and sandwiches, and drinks are served in the Regency's bar and the lounge.
Regency Bar & Grill: classic American dining. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and weekends for brunch.
Lobby Lounge: drinks and snacks.
