Summer transfer window: Likely deals and biggest rumours

The summer transfer window rumour mill is already spinning furiously as teams up and down the country try and get their business done early.

Liverpool are expected to announce a new record signing as soon as today with Mohamed Salah set to complete his £35m+ move from Roma, as Jurgen Klopp eyes seven new targets in total.

Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown a cat amongst the transfer pigeons with Manchester United the frontrunners for his signature, as they usually are, but they have other targets, with Alvaro Morata, Ivan Perisic and Andrea Belotti all wanted to follow Victor Lindelof into the club.

Manchester City are the summer’s early pace setters when it comes to new signings, as Bernardo Silva and Ederson have both already joined the club.

Everton are the other big spenders so far in the window, signing Jordan Pickford from Sunderland for £30m while Ajax's Davy Klaassen for £23.6m.

We will have all the latest throughout the day here so don't touch that dial.

Liverpool could be about to sign not one but two midfielders from Roma this summer.

Mohamed Salah is set to join in a £35million deal imminently and, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, could be joined by Leandro Paredes.

The Argentina midfielder could be available for as little as £22million - which seems on the cheap side - and with efforts to prise Naby Keita away from RB Leipzig proving difficult could be seen as a viable alternative.

Fabinho to United?

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a fee with Monaco for midfielder Fabinho and are on the verge of announcing the player as their second signing of the summer.

Correire Dello Sport are reporting that United have struck a deal with the Ligue 1 champions for the former Real Madrid man and are finalising a £35.2m package.

Reports suggest Fabinho is set to join United

The deal will allegedly cost £30.8m up front and include £4.4m in performance-related bonuses tied to both Fabinho’s own success on the pitch as well as United’s achievements in the coming seasons.

United have already agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old, who is expected to be unveiled by the club shortly.

Blaise Matuidi has opened the door to a move to Manchester United with his father admitting he is ready to listen to offers with his situation at Paris Saint-Germain growing more uncertain by the day.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a deep-lying midfielder to play alongside Ander Herrera this summer which would allow Matuidi's fellow countryman Paul Pogba to push on further up the field with more freedom.

At 30-years-old the Frenchman is seen as a short-term, ready-made replacement for Michael Carrick, who signed a new one-year contract last week.

Crystal Palace's seemingly interminable search for a new manager appears to be drawing to a close, with Dutchman Frank de Boer understood to have been offered the post.

De Boer held talks with Palace in early June and impressed the south London club with his vision for bringing through talented young players and his attention to detail.

The Dutchman is keen to rehabilitate his reputation after a short, ill-fated spell at Inter which ended in November after taking charge of just 14 games.
