OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The White House is located within a North Norfolk country estate and accessed down a long track. Although it feels remote, smart Burnham Market, with its independent shops and the dunes and beaches of Titchwell, Thornham and Brancaster are a short drive away. There's a great choice of good pubs and restaurants, such as the Duck Inn at Stanhoe, the White Horse at Brancaster Staithe, the Hero at Burnham Overy and the Socius and the Hoste Arms at Burnham Market.
By car: the journey takes 1 hour from Norfolk, 3 hours from London and 4 hours 30 minutes from Manchester. There is free parking on site.

THE LOOK AND FEEL
When you enter this large, elegant Georgian manor house, the smart hallway leads to a lovely sitting room with rich red walls, leather and velvet easy chairs and a comfy pale blue sofa. There are artworks by local artists and a nice selection of books on Norfolk and interior design and style. Also on the ground floor is a further room for lounging, a dining room and the restaurant.

THE FACILITIES
Check-in and check-out emails are slightly overkeen, but the welcome, unobtrusive service is friendly and efficient. Things like picnics and hot soups can be provided for the beach. The sitting room and lounge areas, containing a great selection of books to browse, provide ample space and comfort to relax. A large lawn is ideal for boisterous kids, and there are Tesla and electric car charging points.

FOOD AND DRINK
The breakfast room is light and bright, with big windows to let the light flood in. There's a terrace for warmer days. The regularly changing restaurant menus have a strong French influence and include slow-braised bavette of beef, local Staithe smokehouse salmon and confit duck rillette.
Breakfast: locally sourced ingredients, continental and cooked options.
