OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The resort is a destination within itself, though if you wanted to venture outside, you have the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail nearby which boasts the best of the Algarve's natural ocean scenery. Pick up some Portuguese handcrafted gifts from the Sao Bras de Alportal market and visit a zoo, theme park or the idyllic Herdade Dos Grous country estate. Lunch at Praia Dourada in Armação de Pêra was fantastic, and the hotel shuttle seamlessly brought us back.

By plane: flights to Faro take around 3 hours from London and Manchester and 2 hours 30 minutes from Bristol. It's a 45-minute drive to the hotel. Free parking available. Book flights to Faro.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The authentic Algarve touches within the décor set this hotel apart from other luxe resorts in the area, without compromising on glamour. The ambience is Portuguese holiday meets scenic sanctuary, with pools and the ocean at every turn; white walls and 54 acres of immaculate gardens give off a light and airy vibe, where you'll want to linger.

THE FACILITIES

Each member of the longstanding friendly staff came across as committed to providing good service, such as booking a golf buggy to collect us just as our breakfast finished, taking us straight to the spa. Facilities are extensive, including tennis courts, mini golf, pitch and putt, a driving range, a well-kitted-out gym, water sports and even ariel yoga.
