All because the lady loves: The foxglove 'digitalis parviflora', otherwise known as 'Milk Chocolate'

Cull of the wild: What to do when that stunning foxglove display doesn't turn out as planned

Something weird has happened to my foxgloves. I had this notion around about May last year that the next big thing would be foxgloves, tall stems of pale bells shimmering out of a summer's dusk. I thought it would be romantic. I bought three pots. I planted three pots. (Almost all garden design books will tell you that "three is the magic number" when it comes to planting. So I obeyed.) And then I waited.

Naamyaa Café, 407 St John Street, London EC1

You know how, in a dream, you find yourself surrounded with familiar objects, landscapes and people but also with completely unfamiliar, surreal and alarming things? That sense of walking down a street near your old school which is also, somehow, a path on the side of the Grand Canyon, populated with giant talking lemurs? The Naamyaa Café made me feel like that. It's both Western and Eastern, basic and exotic, frank and inscrutable.

Being Modern: Macarons

Is that an Alber Elbaz pink-bubblegum macaron you're eating? Ermahgerd! You are so last year. Lanvin in 2013? Please… this year it's all about Reed Krakoff's matte-black confections. Well, it was at New York Fashion Week, anyway. Come on, keep up!

Karen O, of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Caught in the net: Totally wicked track with lots of bite

On Radio 1 this week, Yeah Yeah Yeahs unveiled “Sacrilege”, the first song from their April-released fourth album, Mosquito – their first LP in some four years. Whereas on their last effort, 2009's well-received It's Blitz!, the New York trio tuned their guitars, drums, synths and vocals to a more dance-oriented sound, on “Sacrilege” at least, they've moved their focus again. Here, on a song produced by Nick Launay and regular collaborator Dave Sitek, a big rock sound prevails with the high-pitched vocals of Karen O (pictured) augmented by a large chanting gospel choir. Iris isn't sure she really wants to inherit the old house. But it's been left to her by her grandmother, Bertha, so after the old lady's funeral, when her mother and aunts have gone back to their lives, Iris moves in. Temporarily, at least.
