Madonna is belived to be recuperating “at home” after being discharged from hospital following a bacterial infection.

A source with knowledge of the matter told CNN that the singer was “in the clear” after being admitted to intensive care over the weekend with a “serious” bacterial infection.

Now, another source told PA that the singer is “feeling better and following doctors’ orders”.

The Independent has contacted Madonna’s representatives for comment.

Her tour manager Guy Oseary announced on Wednesday (28 June) that the “Express Yourself” singer, 64, developed the infection over the weekend, which led to a “several-day stay in the ICU”.

While Madonna is expected to make a “full recovery”, she has had to “pause all commitments”, including delaying the start of her forthcoming tour.

The Queen of Pop was due to begin The Celebration Tour, a greatest hits show, in Canada on 15 July. A new start date is yet to be announced.

Rita Wilson and Michelle Visage were among the stars wishing Madonna well, with RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Visage telling Oseary to “take good care of our Queen”.

The Celebration Tour will feature music from Madonna’s catalogue across four decades, and was scheduled to arrive in the UK in October and December.

Billed as a "one-of-a-kind experience", the tour is also set to feature special guest Bob the Drag Queen, real name Caldwell Tidicue, across all dates.

Madonna was reportedly found unresponsive and rushed to a nearby New York City hospital, according to Page Six. She is said to have been intubated at least one night during her stay.

Madonna’s fans have lept to her defence following her health incident.

As the singer’s name trended on Twitter throughout Thursday (29 June), impassioned fans defended Madonna against her critics.

“Madonna is the blueprint whose influence continues to carry through EVERY cycle of pop stars,” one tweet read.

“Yes, even your fave. The literal definition of ‘icon.’ Yet she’s been ridiculed and minimised from the start of her career. Glad she’s expected to fully recover. Show some respect.”

Madonna had been due to kick off the tour in Vancouver on 15 June. However, the concert series has now been postponed, with new dates to be announced.

Madonna was “strenuously rehearsing” for her forthcoming tour in the lead-up to her health incident, a report has claimed.

An insider told Page Six that the singer was allegedly rehearsing 12-hour days for The Celebration Tour, her greatest hits tour across the world, when she was admitted to hospital over the weekend.

They told the publication: “She had been putting in 12-hour days. She was strenuously rehearsing and putting in the work.”

Madonna, 64, has now had to postpone the tour, which was due to begin in Vancouver, Canada on 15 July.

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey actor Rosie Perez sent “prayers and support”.

“Omg sending her love and healing light!” actor Frankie Grande wrote.

Debi Mazar confirms Madonna’s ‘on the mend'

Madonna’s longtime friend, fellow actor Debi Mazar, has confirmed the Queen of Pop is “on the mend and at home resting”.

On Thursday (29 June), the Younger star shared an old photo of the two of them.

“Get well Sis! Rest,Restore,Reboot! Strongest gal I know…,” Mazar wrote in the Instagram caption. “To all of her fans- Madonna is on the mend & home resting!”

Throughout the years, she’s acted in 22 feature films. Her first on-screen film credit was in the 1985 crime movie A Certain Sacrifice, promptly followed that same year by a small role in romance-drama Vision Quest.

Again, that same year, she led the rom-com Desperately Seeking Susan, which is among her most popular films.

Others include 1990 action crime Dick Tracy, 1992 sports comedy A League of Their Own and 1996 musical drama Evita.

Madonna’s family had been ‘preparing for the worst'

Madonna’s family had been “preparing for the worst” as the pop singer was rushed to hospital after developing a serious bacterial infection.

On Wednesday (28 June), her tour manager, Guy Oseary, announced that over the weekend, the “Vogue” singer had spent several days in intensive care.

In a new update, an unnamed family member of Madonna reportedly told The Daily Mail they had kept her health scare a secret since Saturday because “for the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn”.

“Her family was preparing for the worst,” they added. “Everyone believed that we may lose her and that has been the reality of the situation.”

Madonna has since been discharged from hospital and is believed to be at home recuperating, according to several reports.

When has The Celebration Tour been postponed until?

Announcing that Madonna had spent a number of days in intensive care, the singer’s tour manager Guy Oseary shared that the singer will be “pausing all commitments”, including delaying the start of her forthcoming tour.

The Queen of Pop was due to begin The Celebration Tour, a greatest hits show, in Canada on 15 July. The North America shows should have been taking place from July to October.

The first sold-out UK shows were scheduled to take place on 14, 15, 17, 18 October at London’s O2 Arena. It is not known if this shows will still go ahead, with a new start date for Madonna’s tour yet to be announced.
