The Platinum Party of the Palace has begun with a surprise pre-recorded sketch featuring the Queen and Paddington bear.

Kicking off the performances is Queen + Adam Lambert with a rousing renditon of “We Will Rock You” - with the Queen joining in via teacup.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will miss the BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace concert on Saturday evening, as they celebrate their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday “privately” in Windsor.

Other royal family members are attendance of the star-studded performance include the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn, the Princess Royal, and others will also be there.

Amongst this weekend’s celebrations, the Queen did not attend the Epsom Derby today after also missing the platinum jubilee thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that her Majesty watched the major sporting event on television at Windsor Castle, after experiencing “discomfort” following a busy first day of festivities on Thursday.

A British Airways (BA) plane heading towards Gibraltar with the Earl and Countess of Wessex on board has made a surprise U-turn back to Heathrow Airport due to a “minor technical issue”.

Royal Family Twitter account changes its image to ‘magnificent seven'

The royal family’s Twitter account has changed both its profile and banner image following the platinum jubilee weekend.

The new profile image shows the Queen smiling while in a powder blue outfit she wore for the Trooping the Colour parade on Thursday.

The new banner image shows the “magnificent seven” — the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside the Queen.

They were the only people to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony on the last day of the jubilee, and the Queen was flanked by her three heirs.

Supernanny and parenting expert Jo Frost has applauded the Duchess of Cambridge, after Prince Louis was seen sticking his tongue out and making faces at his mother during the Queen’s jubilee celebrations.

Cameras captured Prince Louis jumping in his seat and placing his hand over Kate Middleton’s mouth when she tried to speak to him at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday.

As the footage quickly went viral, Frost chimed in to say that she admired how Middleton handled her son’s behaviour.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge express their gratitude at conclusion of Jubilee weekend

Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared a message on Twitter, in honour of the Queen’s four-day jubilee celebration coming to a close.

“What a fantastic weekend of celebrations. Seeing people across the nation coming together with family, friends and loved ones has been extremely special,” they wrote.

“Thank you to everyone who turned out to show their gratitude to The Queen and her inspiring 70 years of leadership. From the crowds on the Mall to communities hosting street parties up and down the country, we hope you had a weekend to remember,” they continued. “We all had an incredible time, especially Louis…”
