THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
If you want the Venetian experience you've seen in films and read about in books, then you can't beat this location right on the Grand Canal overlooking the church of Salute. Get a water taxi to the private jetty or take the vaporetto to Santa Maria del Giglio; the stop is a three minute walk away.
By plane: London to Venice takes 2 hours. Take an airport boat (1 hour 20 minutes) to St Mark's Square and it's a 10-minute walk. Book flights to Venice.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
This grand old palazzo is heaving with original Venetian flourishes from terrazzo Veneziano floors to carved wooden ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers and antique furniture. Plush archive Rubelli fabrics in rich colours are used for furniture upholstery, drapes and wallcoverings. From the minute you walk in you feel like royalty.
