OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

This is a beautiful setting overlooking woodland that opens up to views of the sea at Fermain Bay. The winding path to the beach is fringed with wildflowers and you can pick up the cliff path and walk all the way along the coast to Jerbourg. Sausmarez manor is just a couple of minutes away and has a weekend farmer's market on its grounds and a lovely botanic sculpture park to explore.

By plane: flights from London Heathrow to Guernsey take around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport.

By boat: ferries to St Peter Port run from Poole (3 hours) and Portsmouth (7 hours). Free parking available. Book boats.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

There is a great atmosphere in this hotel, helped by some contemporary and varied design: period panelling and antique furniture in the library, bare wooden tables and tungsten lamps in the Mexican restaurant Buhu and New England seaside styling in Ocean restaurant (including lobster-pot lampshades and decorative nets).

THE FACILITIES

The heated indoor pool has bifold doors that open out onto the terrace on a warm day. In the gardens, you'll find the Treehouse Spa, which offers a range of non-invasive skin treatments alongside massages and beauty treatments. A library with a wood-burning stove has a small selection of books.
