OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

If you want to be close to the airport, then you can't get closer than this - just a four-minute drive away. The central island position is also convenient for tourist attractions such as the German Military Underground Hospital and the German Occupation museum to find out about Guernsey's life during the second world war. The exquisite Little Chapel, which is decorated with thousands of pieces of broken pottery, is just a 15-minute walk away.

By plane: flights from London Heathrow to Guernsey take around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is a 5-minute taxi ride from the airport.

By boat: ferries to St Peter Port run from Poole (3 hours) and Portsmouth (7 hours). The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the port. Free parking available. Book boats.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The hotel grew up around a 15th-century farmhouse and traces remain in the granite fireplaces and wooden ceiling beams. Around this, the interiors are fresh and neutral with calming sages and creams in the main restaurant. The place comes to life at the poolside, which is surrounded by mature trees.

THE FACILITIES

Service is attentive and cheerful and staff try to remember your name. From Easter to October the outdoor pool is heated and you can sunbathe on the lawn; plus you can dine on the terrace or in the gazebo. There's occasional al fresco live music in summer. Picnics can be made on request.
